Description
Book 1: Ozma of Oz by L. Frank Baum was originally published July 30, 1907. This is the third book in the Land of Oz series. In this exciting tale we are again introduced to Dorothy Gale and Uncle Henry as they embark on a voyage to Australia. After a storm shipwrecks Dorothy and her chicken Billina, they find themselves in a new strange land where the adventures continue.
In this book Baum makes clear his intent to continue the Oz series due to popular demand at the time. Dorothy, who we have not heard from since The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, is brought to life again to warm the hearts of readers everywhere. Once again we are inspired by her bravery and her innocence. I hope you enjoy getting lost in the new adventures of Ozma of Oz. Book 2: Dorothy and the Wizard in Oz, the fourth book in the Land of Oz series, was originally published in 1908. Around the time of writing this novel the author, Lyman Frank Baum moved to California during the time of the San Francisco earthquake. We see how these events shaped Baum's writing as the opening scene begins in San Francisco with Dorothy and her cousin Zeb Hugson, falling through the cracks of the earth in an earthquake, thus beginning their next adventure. Dorothy is once again rejoined with the Wizard from the first, and most notable book, The Wonderful Wizard of Oz. In book three of the series, Ozma of Oz, Baum sets the stage as the story continues in new foreign lands full of mysteries, dangers and excitement.
