Description
'Beautiful, thoughtful' - a touching memoir of childhood about growing up by the seaside
Margaret Royall is born to the bustle of Cleethorpes, an old Lincolnshire seaside resort. There are family outings in a tiny Austin 7, and ferry rides across the Humber. Family runs like a comforting thread throughout this lovely book, and lifelong friendships are forged in unexpected places.
Gentle, heartfelt and illustrated throughout with original poems and family photographs, The Road to Cleethorpes Pier is a beautiful portrait of childhood - perfect for anyone who has dreamed of growing up by the seaside.
I never missed my childhood home
until the tide stopped rolling in and
ochre sand no longer crunched between my toes...
