Description
The Tenth Annual National Sand Sculpture Competition was being held at Crystal Shores!
It might have been the Tenth Annual Competition, but it was the first time it was being hosted by the tiny town of Crystal Shores and new Mayor Peter Parker and Council Member Lizzie Halpern were Co-Chairpersons of the wildly popular event.
Local developer Otis O'Reilley decided to make a real splash and bring in a famous Australian Sand Artist so he'd win the $10,000 Prize for the best commercial sculture. Not to be outdone, rivals Pacifica Developments hired local sculptor Manny Greenwell to design and build their entry to beat Otis.
Award-winning sand artists from around the country who'd come to Crystal Shores had their own ideas about who was going to win, and competition promised to be fierce.
After all, there was more than one $10,000 prize available, and the best entry would probably win two of them, not to mention a Silver Cup and bragging rights!
Some people were determined to win, by fair means or foul.
It was up to Police Chief Thea Monroe and her Acting Detective Jeff Dooley to make sure everything stayed trouble free.
$10,000 was a lot of money -- enough for somebody to decide to trash the competition so they could win!
Who was it? Police Chief Thea Monroe had an idea, but she had to prove it.
