Description
IF ANY EVENT could be said to have been the makings of Adolf Hitler, it was his fateful Beer Hall Putsch attempt of November 8, 1923. It marked a turning point not only for him personally, but for the whole Nazi movement. Along with Hermann Göring, Ernst Rohm, Rudolf Hess and an assorted array of revolutionaries, the Nazis tried to seize power in Bavaria. From there they would launch their march on Berlin to overthrow the Weimar Republic. It was not to be. Betrayed by Austrian strong-man Gustav Kahr, the Nazi leaders were almost gunned down in a firefight with the police.
This critical event in European history turned Adolf Hitler from a nobody to a person of national interest. He turned his trial for treason into a platform for his speeches, during his imprisonment he wrote his political statement, "Mein Kampf".
He became, in the eyes of many, the future savior of Germany.
FIND OUT HOW Adolf Hitler, Ernst Rohm and Hermann Göring planned to seize power in Germany, and why and how they failed.
THE MAKING HITLER and BREAKING HITLER series describe in simple terms, though without sacrificing the details, the important events in the history of the Third Reich. The history of Nazi Germany is complex, and often hard for the casual reader to grasp. So much was happening at the time, and there was so much political intrigue, that the simple story is easily lost. These books bring back the story, in plain language that makes reading them a pleasure.
