Description
A horror short: short reads, haunting, moving
There are strange guests in Cynthia's garden, and they come bearing gifts. While gardening one morning, Cynthia finds a strange trinket left near the porch: a bouquet of wildflowers, joined by an antique silver ring. Curiously, the gift is presented to her by a crow. Soon there are more gifts, and more birds, and it isn't long before their charming affection transforms into an alarming display of obsession. The gifts grow more elaborate and macabre, and the crows, it seems, can be quite jealous. Yet there is something about the birds and their bizarre behavior that reminds Cynthia of the husband she lost five years ago, forcing her to revisit painful memories and opening old wounds she has worked hard to heal. "They're messengers," her husband said once of the crows that lingered around the property. "What do you think they're trying to tell us?"
