Description
We start learning the very moment we are born. The first push to emerge out of the mother's womb and the very first gasp of air in this world, teach us essential survival skills. A kid coaxing its mother to buy a sweet or a businessman securing a multi-million £/$ approval, both utilize different flavors of negotiation and influencing skills.
Life throws innumerable challenges, opportunities, failures and triumphs. It has thrown few near death experiences for me, close encounters with business leaders, President, ex-PM, unions, operational staff at work, as well as the privilege to work globally across countries like Egypt, Israel, Singapore, Malaysia, Taiwan, India, USA, UK, Nordics, Germany etc. I have developed an appreciation for global cultural diversity, as well as the need for the newly emerging 'single global digital economy' that dissolves political barriers for the common good of mankind.
ABOUT THE AUTHOR: Amieya was born and brought up in a small town in India named Bokaro, famous for its steel plant. Those who have grown up in this town proudly proclaim it as among the most beautiful cities in India, with a unique ambiance of an excellent environment and easy going friendly people. Amieya was raised in a middle class family and like many in India, received his first lessons of humanity through the grandparents' bed time stories. In specific, the epics Ramayana and Mahabharata have shaped the values of several Indians teaching us to imbibe pure values, thoughts, knowledge and good action (karma).
Amieya studied Electrical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur. After his studies, he started his career in the Semiconductor industry for a California based multinational. The job took him across a whirlwind trip around the globe- Singapore, USA, Israel, Holland, Taiwan, Thailand, Malaysia, UK to name a few. The exploration of cultures, people and countries, inevitably becomes a self-exploration, and Amieya was no exception. During the dot com times, he interacted with numerous entrepreneurs, VCs and business leaders. Amieya came to UK from the West Coast to set up the IT operations of a start-up that he briefly worked for.
He completed his MBA from Said Business School, Oxford and has been recently working in merger-acquisition scenarios, leading business transformation, integration programs and CxO level advisory for large organizations.
Amieya is married with a charming wife, who is an ex-classmate from his small town, and they have an adorable son. In his spare time, Amieya indulges in playing sports like cricket, squash, tennis, badminton, a bit of movies... and most recently, writing.
