Description
Most of the world was horrified and much of the Black Community was traumatised by the murder of George Floyd. As a training and Mentoring company we noticed two distinct reactions from the White community.
Many White people felt unable to ask questions in order to gain a better understanding for fear of being attacked for their ignorance but at the same time they were being told that 'White silence' was violence and made them complicit with the racists.
As a solution orientated business rather than see this play out we setup a paid Facebook campaign to offer white people a Safe Space to ask question or make comments free from attack, vilification and where differing opinions and debate would be respected.
The Text of the original post read as follows...
So what I am seeing on social medias a result of the George Floyd murder are two main things
A lot of black people (myself included) are collectively traumatized
And judging by the comments I am seeing, it seems that a lot of white of people feel either unfairly judged or have a feeling of impudence in their inability to contribute to the debate
I don't really use social media for these reasons but as a response to what I am seeing we have decided to do an ask me anything on Race/ Being Black and Racism etc this weekend
The aim of this is to create a safe space for people to let their feelings out and ask questions without fear of being judged or vilified
I am not an expert but I will be happy to give my opinion, experiences and point people in the direction of useful resources
Just pop your question or comment in the comments box and we will endeavour to give my opinion on it before the weekend is over'
The response to this post forced us to run the Ask me anything for a lot longer than a weekend
of course we were aware that we were inviting Trolls and Racists but at Kevix Felin we took the attitude that a respectful response with a truthful answer to a Troll could be of benefit to a genuine reader who had heard the same opinion but did not have a response to it.
Ans as part of our commitment to not allowing the murder of George Floyd and the Black lives Matter protests that follow to just be another forgettable moment n history we have collated the questions and their answers, in this authentic rough and hardly edited form so that the discussions and debate we had could be of benefit for building future bridges in race relations and empowering racial equality for the future.
