Description
Two apocryphal texts constitute the Gospel of Nicodemus: Acts of Pilate and Christ's Descent into Hell. One is a sequence of the other and completes it, although written at different times. Justin, in 150, mentions in his writings a text called the Acts of Pontius Pilate, narrating the events after the Crucifixion.
Nicodemus narrates the episodes of the Crucifixion and Resurrection, but he adds nothing to the canonical Gospels. It is curious to note that he cites the site of the Crucifixion as the garden where Christ was imprisoned, Gethsemane, situated at the foot of the Mount of Olives.
