Simon Holiday has been offered a professorial position at Elbridge University if he is willing to uproot his life and travel to New Orleans. There might lie valuable research pertaining to Simon Holiday's scholastic obsession, a 15th Century cult centered around Lazarus. The offer is tempting but it comes with a disquieting request: bring his family heirloom, a beautiful green jewel encasing the grotesque remains of a dead man's hand.

What begins as a friendly tour of campus quickly becomes a hellish nightmare. Has Simon finally succumbed to fatigue and psychosis? Or is something truly amiss about this University? Simon will have to leverage his morbid curiosity against his own safety, but he'll soon find out that some knowledge is better left unknown.
