Description
Vivy tried to slow her breathing, tried to take full breaths. Tried to sound unmoved.
"It's just good sex, Remy. We were always good together, in that way."
"It's love," he refuted. "All these years, it never stopped being love."
"It was a much-needed release," she continued the argument.
"That's what you wanted it to be. I'm back on the westbound."
Vivy reached inside the shower stall and turned on the water.
"I won't let you in," she tried another approach.
"I think your son will," he answered.
She sighed. Counted to ten. Opened her mouth. Closed it. Sighed, again before saying, "No, Remy. I desire you, but I don't love you. Go home,"
SOMETIMES, THE PAST DOESN'T STAND STILL.
There is no capturing memory. It's slippery, fuzzy, and selective. That's what Janvier Johnson comes to realize when Remy Pruitt reenters her life, twenty years later. He betrayed her, all those years ago, when he left town with her best friend. He thinks it was she who betrayed him, though, so when he's hired to be the photographer for her client at a talent agency, he is determined to make her admit her old wrongs. But old memories and old feelings keep getting in the way, and beyond their hostility and the sexual tension that comes with it, there is a much bigger picture, a much bigger reality that has much bigger consequences!
