Description
The author writes of his childhood in a South Yorkshire mining village in the late fifties and early sixties. The eldest of eight children, he paints a picture of life in a mining community shortly after the war. Humour leaps from every page as he takes us through his school years, into his early teens and employment at the local colliery. He writes with affection and humour of the many characters he meets along the way and tells of his dreams of travel and adventure. Aged seventeen he enlists in the army and boards a train in Barnsley to join his Battalion and chase his dreams. This fully illustrated book also contains a selection of short stories, prose and other works.
