Description
The Book Of Elms is a brief but profound look into some of the most vital biblical principles that will help us to lead a life of integrity; seeking truth, knowledge, and above all God's face.
The elm tree is a symbol of a tree that does not bear fruit. The vine has become a symbol of Christ. If we look to the beginning, what encompassed the knowledge of good and evil? A tree. Also, Jesus himself constantly compared us and our lives to trees. In Matthew 7:18 Jesus said, "A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, and a bad tree cannot bear good fruit." He also said in John 15:5 "I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing." Jeremiah 17:7-8 says, "But blessed is the one who trusts in the LORD, whose confidence is in him. They will be like a tree planted by the water that sends out its roots by the stream. It does not fear when heat comes; its leaves are always green. It has no worries in a year of drought and never fails to bear fruit." David's Psalm 1:3 says that a person who finds knowledge and understanding of the fear of the Lord is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither; whatever they do prospers. The entire world is covered in trees, we literally have to cut trees down to build roads and other manmade structures. We get oxygen from them which make our very breath. It is obvious that the tree is very significant to God and his creation.
