Description
There's a monkey in the park but only children can see him. Capturing the joy of a child's imagination in his adventure through the iconic London Olympic Park, Lewis watches the fun as monkey creates mayhem and watches over the children from his home in the ArcelorMittal Orbit tower. The story allows adults a glimpse inside the mind of an inquisitive child who is discovering the world by creating a mischievous friend. Imaginary friends are a symptom of developing social intelligence and monkey can test the boundaries while he makes us laugh. Almost 65 per cent of children under the age of seven have an imaginary friend, allowing them a safe place to explore their feelings and work out a little more about the world This little beautifully illustrated story is an opening to discuss what's real and when make believe is fun. It was inspired by many trips to the park during lockdown, where we hunted for lions in the undergrowth, ran away from scary dinosaurs and waved to monkeys who lived in many of the trees in the Olympic park. On occasions I might have caught a glimpse of one or two myself.
