Description
The editorial cartoons of St. Mary's Today newspaper spanned twenty years, many topics, and largely lampooned elected officials in local, state, and national government. The cartoons reflected the political viewpoints of the editor and were brought to life by the great talents of the artists, without which, could never have had the great impact that they did. Frequently readers noted that the first thing they went to in the weekly newspaper were the cartoons. Having citizens laughing at public officials was often the beginning of the end of political careers.
