Description
Sean Burke IT security manager with Credit Finance bank, has been summoned to join the bank's crisis management team to, deal with the kidnap of a senior bank executive and a potential major cyber incident. With the most senior member of the banks information security team missing, Sean finds himself thrust into the fray as the only one remaining with the knowledge to save the bank. Working alongside a Ukrainian security team who specialised in kidnap, extortion and cyber threat who have been brought in by the bank, Sean successfully brings the immediate crisis to a successful conclusion. As a man with an innate sense of right and wrong Sean does not feel entirely comfortable with the days events. A discomfort that he feels even more acutely when he is awoken in the wee small hours by unexpected visitors, one of whom is the missing Chief Information Security Officer. A story unfolds over coffee in Sean's kitchen, which brings the motives and honesty of the senior bank management into question. Sean realises that there may be truth in the story the following day, when he is told that the bank have decided not to involve the authorities in the situation and Sean along with the rest of the crisis team are forced to sign a non-disclosure agreement. Sean makes the decision to involve himself in putting right the wrongs that he believes are being perpetrated by the people in charge of the institution for which he works. He finds himself caught up in a web of deceit and cyber deception, fighting against the resources of big finance and organised crime. Travelling to Bratislava via Dublin, Sean puts himself and the woman he loves in danger as he has to get up close and personal with the organised crime groups that the bank is facilitating. A trojan horse, Sean has to turn his back on his friends and colleagues and do the thing that he had spent his career trying to prevent. Determined to expose the truth behind the shady goings on at the bank, Sean and his unlikely allies fight their own illicit cyber war against the shadowy figures within the bank. The small but determined team, fight fire with fire. gathering evidence, whilst redirecting illicitly obtained funds down the rabbit hole of opaque private banking and cryptocurrency before bringing their operation to a successful conclusion.
