Jess Schmidt's parents are now both dead, leaving her alone, basically an orphan, with so many questions left unanswered. Struggling with her heritage which Jess believes has caused all her woes, she pushes her problems down deep and moves on with life.
After selling her father's veterinary clinic, Jess decides to set up a bike shop on the edge of her farm. This town has always been a tourist draw and the cycling business is good. So good that Jess hires three men new to town to help her run her thriving shop.
Throwing herself into her business and her sport, Jess keeps her head down and her mind on her work. But when several hockey players from a National League team based out of a nearby city start to buy up vacation properties, Jess can't help but noticing one who happens to pop into her little bike shop - Jake Addison!
Jess is quite the tomboy in greasy overalls and her hair pulled back into a messy ponytail tucked into her baseball cap - not exactly the girly-glam-girl type this hockey hunk is no doubt used to. She knows she doesn't have a chance.
But Jake is mesmerized by her soft feminine voice and her delicate movements which she uses to command her business and run the show. Her contrast of feminity and tomboyishness piques his interests... and his desires.
Jess is interested, but she knows it will not work out in the end. She has a past that most people would not find desirable... well, Jess doesn't. And she wants to keep that part of her a secret.
This instalove romance is Book 1 in the series "Who Do You Love?" where lovers from different backgrounds find their way to one another and need to understand how to make it work - in the name of love.
