Wyoming, 1866
Rebecca Whitaker is struggling to keep her family ranch from foreclosure. Known as Rebel, she's become a law unto herself as she does everything she can to pay back the new holder of her mortgage, the loathsome Alexander Greer. She trades with the Shoshone Indians, works in a saloon, raises horses, and more, all to prevent her and her 3 younger siblings and father from becoming homeless.

Life out West is tough at the best of times, but losing her mother and then her older brothers in the Civil War has taken its toll on Rebel. Enter the mysterious Walker Pritchard, claiming he wishes to stay with Reb and her family so he can leave his terrible memories of the war behind.

Walker claims he longs to learn about the ways of the West, but he actually has a secret agenda he's trying to put into motion. Despite her suspecting his motives, and the fact that sparks fly every time they meet, the intense attraction between Rebel and Walker can't be denied.

Enter the mysterious Barclay Townsend, who also shows up out of the blue claiming he wants to help Rebel with the ranch as well. The two men soon become rivals for Rebel's attention, while she struggles to make sense of all the strange things that have been happening in the area ever since the foul Greer arrived at Grange.
