Description
Urged on by his insecure girlfriend, Mina, Bobby returns home to his family from whom he is estranged. Wounds he thought were healed now reopen. His manipulative step-mother, Penny is a horrible western matriarch who bestrides the whole family like a poisonous spider. A narcissist extraordinaire and the cause of the initial estrangement, she knows which buttons to push to cause distress to Mina, Bobby's girlfriend and to create tension between Bobby and his stepbrothers. Likeable though he is, Bobby is clearly damaged by his stepmother. This causes additional tension to the already self-doubting Mina. The love between Mina and Bobby is strong, but Penny's machinations will lead her to act impulsively.
Ethan, who is the heir after Bobby was driven out, often sides with his mother and seems unaware that she is controlling the family. His belief in his mother's lies cause him to treat Bobby --and women whom he considers impure-- shabbily.
Charlie, the youngest brother, is quiet, solitary and has Asperger's Syndrome. When the ranch is filled with the brothers and their girlfriends, there is a chance for reconciliation but separation, distrust, and tragedy also loom.
