Description
Historian Frank Latta, scholar of early California history and preeminent expert on Joaquin Murrieta, spent his entire career sifting facts from legends about the life of Joaquin Murrieta. Famously cornered at remote Cantua Creek by Harry Love and the California Rangers in 1853, Joaquin was killed in a blazing gunfight and then beheaded.
Or was he? Someone assuredly lost his head, but Mr. Latta concluded that it wasn't Joaquin. What if Joaquin survived and lived a long and adventurous life? That possibility inspired my imagination. I've woven unproven legends with subsequent historical events into what I hope are logical and possible stories. You be the judge!
