A young man called Lutey, seeking his way in the world, discovers a beached mermaid while he is out beachcombing. She tries to ensnare him with her beauty but he realises she will drown him if he succumbs, and he manages to outwit her--and makes her grant him Three Wishes.
Leaving his life on the fishing boats behind, he goes on to marry a local girl and becomes a wealthy tin merchant... but Morgelyn the Mermaid has not forgotten him.
She wants Lutey--and she wants revenge for him spurning her advances. A deadly green mist enfolds Lutey's home in Helston... A SHORT STORY approximately 9000 words.
