This horror story which takes place during the Boer Wars in South Africa is a slightly over 10,000 words long. English forces took refuge in the small town of Ladysmith, in what is now South Africa. The Boer army surrounded the city and layed siege. They shelled the city relentlessly for over two months, killing civilians and combatants without mercy.

During the siege, a witch doctor with strange powers and a malignant disposition, uses his witchcraft to prey on British and Boer alike. The British don't belive in his powers and neither do the Afrikaners, leaving a small band of women to confront his evil and protect their families from the dark cloud over Ladysmith. This is their story.
