Description
'Is a memory the same thing as a dream?'
Una asks herself this question as she wakes up, sitting at the back of a church, listening to a priest eulogize about what a good man her uncle John used to be. She is nineteen years old and her uncle was her last living relative, but he was neither a blood relative nor a good man.
The year is 1987 and there are troubles in Ireland. Alone and free for the first time in her life, Una sets out from her hometown of Roscommon heading for Donegal on a bike she calls 'Rita' to find a place for herself in a schizophrenic world of beauty, loneliness, and violence, but with the darkness of her path lit by the kindness of strangers.
