About Carmilla & The Wyvern Mystery
"But dreams come through stone walls, light up dark rooms, or darken light ones, and their persons make their exits and their entrances as they please, and laugh at locksmiths."
Carmilla & The Wyvern Mystery is a 2-book collection of classic works by Irish author J. Sheridan Le Fanu, published in 1869 and 1872. Le Fanu was a celebrated writer of gothic horror and mystery fiction, helping to develop the genre and influencing many other writers including Bram Stoker, the author of Dracula.
In Carmilla,Laura lives a solitary existence with only her father and tutor for company, until, one moonlit night, an unexpected guest arrives -- the beautiful, but strangely unsettling, Carmilla. The Wyvern Mystery tells the story of orphan Alice Maybell. Adopted by a widower, she comes to live at Wyvern Manor with Squire Fairfield and his two dashing sons.
