Synopsis:
Noxhaven is a vast, vertical megapolis where the privileged thrive in Uppercity, while marginalized communities struggle in the segregated Lowercity. Life is far from perfect and has grown even more complicated with the sudden appearance of curious, plant-human hybrids. These beings, known as Mandracals, have become a new race, feared by the masses almost as much as the expansive Mist that surrounds the few remaining cities on the threatened planet Gaiath. However, to the ostracized and enigmatic Goyles who dwell in the depths of Undercity, these new beings are revered for their potential and purpose.
After emerging from the Mist, Sakura awoke abandoned in the seedy, neon-lit streets of Lowercity, with no memory of who she was or where she came from. Reborn as a Mandracal, her dark hair transformed into light pink, and vines sprouted from her scalp. Lost and confused, she found others like herself who offered their support. Through scraps of information about her origins, she tenaciously discovered a way to return to Uppercity, hoping to spark her memory and reunite with her family, whom she believed would welcome her back. Instead, she found herself in the clutches of the unforgiving authorities and soon embarked on an alarming yet thrilling journey.
When Sakura meets Sylvan, a silvery Goyle who insists on protecting her, she learns many truths, including what she truly is. As she discovers more about herself, she uncovers a noble purpose. Determined to join Sylvan's cause and make a difference, Sakura realizes she's not just captivated by his gallant dedication, but also by his personality and charm...
