Description
We are discovered. Now they hunt us.
The day before the Victoria exploded, Clara wanted nothing more than to avoid her boyfriend's mother and make captain of her own explorer spaceship. She was on her way to captain, but not of a spaceship. As second in command of the ragged survivors of the Victoria, Clara made sure she reached out to everyone, trying to be the best leader that she could.
But the Jjazx, with their deadly hydrophobia, knew where Clara and her survivors hid. The defense of the swamp with it's humid air drying out meant that Clara and the others head underground and pray that the cave system is large enough to not run into their mortal enemy. Deprived of sunlight, and a source of food, Clara worried about everything. She felt like there was no one to talk to, no one to help her. And on top of the already stretched resources, more survivors were found.
"We started as seven survivors, and then another small group from the Victoria joined us. When the next habitation pod landed, we had serious issues, but we met allies. Now we recovered survivors from within the Jjazx city; they knew we were here. They stalk around the natural barriers of our home. We cannot hunt. We are hunted.
Everything we do is targeted towards our survival, including supplying the Toscani with our only reliable food source. But the Toscani's have battles of their own, and when the Jjazx made it past the humidity barrier, they were not here to help us. We have no way to contact them.
Survival and safety are rare commodities where we live. Perhaps the Toscani will help us off this planet; perhaps the Jjazx will kill us all first. Whatever the solution, we are hunted." Clara's musings in her personal journal.
For those who love survival stories set on alien worlds, Project Hail Mary with more characters, and Hunger Games without the games, this series is for you.
Overview of series
Seven teens, thrust into deep space, their families dead.
Too far and too hazardous to return to Earth, they face a choice. Do nothing and die, or take a leap of faith and travel through a wormhole. The problem - they don't know if they will die on the journey through the wormhole, and they have only the computer's clinical assurance that there is a safe planet. Oh, and no one's even seen a wormhole before--until now they were theoretical.
