Description
The first book in the series, Vox Rox, charted the developments in music up to 1988. Vox Rox 2 follows the first book and continues the journey to the end of the 1990s, and takes you on a journey from alternative rock, the 'Madchester scene' and the psychedelic revival, Independent record labels, hiphop, rave, chill out and ambient music, grunge that got us back to a proper rock sound which then led us on to industrial rock.
The wheel always turns in music, and collectively the universe needed a return to more light hearted sounds in the form of so called britpop, trip hop and finally a return to what was alternative rock in the first place - brit rock.
There are very open interviews with the people at the heart of the music scene at the time with: Fuzzbox, The Mighty Lemon Drops, The Sugarcubes, A Certain Ratio, The DJ's from the Hacienda club that were instrumental in bringing in the music that would shape the Manchester Scene (in this case Dave Haslam) that then inspired the likes of Inspiral Carpets, The Farm, The Wedding Present, Stereo MC's, Meat Beat Manifesto, Adamski, Altern 8, The Orb, The Melvins, Mudhoney, Big Black, The Young Gods, Cornershop, Massive Attack, Skunk Anansi and Republica.
