Description
By July of 1944, Germany's eventual defeat was inevitable. The Allies had successfully landed at Normandy and were advancing westward; the defense of the Italian peninsula was collapsing; and the Soviet hordes were advancing from the east as German industrial capacity, railways and civilian neighborhoods full of workers were being bombed relentlessly. That's when Churchill & Lindemann stunned some of the British military leaders with a proposal to "drench" the German civilian population with already manufactured mustard gas. Only the resistance of British military leaders and a German preemptive strike on a poison-carrying ship that prevented the horror show which Churchill and FDR were cooking up.
