Crime pays, but not very well.

If it did, maybe I wouldn't be here, now - witness to a murder that I can't report, and hunted by the killer but unable to go to the police without copping to a few counts of B & E in the process.

But, it's worse than breaking and entering. In a world where being dead already stacks the system against you, a zombie like me admitting to being anywhere near the scene of the crime? A sure way to end up taking the fall, and spending the rest of my undead life behind bars.

Fortunately, there are always unofficial channels. People more or less on the right side of the law, but not quite so particular about the details as the police.

Unfortunately, the specific channel I have in mind is my ex. And the way things ended, she may turn me in just out of spite.

If she doesn't murder me herself.
