White Belt – How To Survive Brazilian Jiu Jitsu : 41 Easy Strategies To Get Dominated Less On The Mats
Share This
Description
Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is the fastest growing martial art in the world. People get totally hooked by BJJ, and for good reason - the benefits are many. This combat sport will increase your fitness, your self confidence and your toughness. It will also improve your thinking under pressure and your ability to protect yourself and the people you love.
However, it can be a tough journey. Most newcomers to Brazilian Jiu Jitsu are totally humbled by how powerless they are to stop an experienced practitioner from physically dominating and smothering them and applying all manner of painful submissions. And due to how difficult this can be, many White belts fall away and drop out before they have had the chance to benefit from training in BJJ.
This book has been written by a white belt just 6 months into his journey. Therefore this is not a book showing you a million beautiful techniques which will take you years to learn, this is also not a book that has been padded out to make it last longer. Instead, this is a short, quick reference book which offers 41 tactics to survive in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, both on a session by session basis, but also in your overall journey.
The author is a lifelong competitive martial artist, who found that 20+ years of sports combat experience in other martial arts counted for nothing when he started his BJJ journey. He was humbled by his inability to defend himself just like everybody else. He wrote this book to help other overwhelmed and struggling White belts to just survive the first part of their journey where the overwhelm is strongest and the inability to defend yourself is most debilitating.
Expect to read about:
• How to accelerate your learning of techniques and survivability
• How you can be strongest in your weakest place
• How to choose training partners who will help you develop and keep you safe
• How to develop your mind and skills away from classes
• How to ensure you don't physically run out of energy and oxygen in this intense combat sport
• Which other types of physical training will increase your ability to physically withstand intense BJJ training
• How to reduce your risk of injury
• How to develop mental strength which will help you in BJJ and in life
Again, this book is quite short in length, don't buy this for a long read on a long journey. This book is a simple list of 41 strategies to survive longer in your Brazilian Jiu Jitsu journey, so you should look at this as a reference guide. Some strategies will make complete sense to you now, and others will make sense a few months later in your journey, so you should plan to refer back to this book until you are beyond needing these basic level survival tactics.
There are many well written books about technique for BJJ from highly experienced and hugely qualified instructors. if you want to learn technique from a book, look elsewhere. BUT if you want some simple to understand ideas on how to get through the initial intensity of training in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu this book is for you.
