Description

A serial killer is on the loose in the quaint village of Kilmacolm in Renfrewshire. A missing schoolgirl has been found strangled in a field on her route home.

DCI Lesley Grant is on the point of leaving on holiday, when instead her boss demands she leads the murder investigation team. The stakes ramp up when Grant discovers this was the second schoolgirl murdered in similar circumstances. Worse, both girls attended the same school. The SIO on the first inquiry has quit and now she is in charge of both cases.
If she cannot find the killer and fast, there will be another victim and this time she will feel responsible for their death.

With the leads in both murders going nowhere Grant must decide whether the killer is associated with the school. It's a critical decision and Grant knows she must make the right call if she is to stop the evil that is targeting the village.

In the middle of the inquiry, Grant's older sister insists on dashing six hundred miles from Cornwall to describe the latest shocking development in her hunt for their youngest sibling, a missing person for over twenty years. It is a distraction Grant could do without, but she knows she must follow every possible clue to uncover her sister's fate.
