Description
Set in 1930s Yorkshire, The Art of a Butterfly observes a marriage through the years, exploring how life has a way of changing us through time and circumstance.
Lawrence Armitage, the debonair, charismatic manager of a renowned department store in Leeds, falls in love with shy Constance Crawford. Constance is a young woman recovering from a trauma, resulting in the loss of her hair for a time.
Lawrence only has eyes for his wife, and has far more integrity than he is given credit for. His colleague, Daphne Farrington, knows this, having been in love with him for sixteen years. She secretly pined for him when he was called away during the war, only to watch him meet and marry Constance on his return.
When Constance suspects she may lose everything, she resolves to rebuild her confidence. However, just when life should become brighter for the couple, their troubles begin.
If Constance and Lawrence are to find their happy ever after they must learn to fall in love with a stranger... if they possibly can.
The Art of a Butterfly is part of the Women of Old Yorkshirecollection by Yorkshire-born author Jo Priestley; historical, romantic novels featuring authentic women, engaged in emotional journeys of self-discovery about love in all its many forms.
