This easy-to-read book is ideal for middle-grade readers (9-12) and teens who are still developing their reading skills (12-16).

The bloodsucker shoots slime at Zoe's face, but she closes her eyes and mouth and continues to pull. A surge of energy has filled her body, and she is gripped by determination.

Somehow, Huy keeps himself from completely freaking out. 'It's coming off!' he yells and with a mighty pop, the leech lets go.

Zoe topples backwards, just managing to keep her balance. She holds the squirming bloodsucker in both hands, staggering as she regains her balance

'A container!' she screams at Henry.

Henry dives for a plastic tub, and Zoe lurches forward, dropping the leech into it.

It lands with a sickening squelch - a slab of thick meat oozing blood.
