Jessica Hahn has been fired as senior investigative journalist at the Seattle Chronicle, and her editor, Harry Dryden, is fired along with her. Their careers are over; but Jessica's having none of it and neither is Harry.

Funded by Harry, she chases a potential news story, and on acquiring evidence of a professional hit that took down two retired mining engineers in an L.A park, he hires ex-Justice Department investigator, Arnie Krench to work with her.

Discovering a political connection, Jessica heads to Washington D.C. where a U.S. senator and a formidable, deep-state official get involved, but the matter of who to trust becomes impossible.
