Description
Susan Davenport has officially declined her fifth proposal, and that is the end of it. Marriage, she decides, simply isn't for her. Besides, she has far more important things to focus on -- like her talent for matchmaking. She thus begins to pursue a future where she can help others find their perfect partners while remaining blissfully independent. But this newfound freedom is soon jeopardized when gossip and scandals begin to spread, threatening to undermine everything she's worked towards. Now, Susan must not only fight to restore her name, but also come to terms with something she had always avoided: relying on others. And perhaps even allow love to find its way into her heart after all.
Captain Wesley Dawson has recently returned to London from post-war occupation in France with more than just physical scars -- there are deeper, invisible wounds that plague him. Recent unrest in the wake of the Magical Reform does little to help the chaos inside his mind. One of Wesley's new tenants, a Miss Susan Davenport, seems to be the only person he trusts to know of his condition. But with the city unraveling around them, and his past threatening to pull him under, Wesley isn't certain if he can ever be the man she deserves.
