The City of the Sun (Italian: La città del sole; Latin: Civitas solis) is a philosophical work by the Italian Dominican philosopher Tommaso Campanella. It is an important early utopian work. The work was written in Italian in 1602.
"The City of the Sun" contains a dialogue between a Knights Hospitaller grandmaster and a sea captain. The book describes a society where women, children and goods are held in a common collective. Camanella foresees a world of peace where one monarchy rules.
