Description
In Brentwood Falls, a killer is about to get stung.
Lucy Blackstone loves three things: her job as head librarian, an excellent cup of tea, and the honey from June Holloway's prize-winning bees. But when June is found dead in her own apiary -- covered in bee stings despite her decades of experience -- Lucy suspects something far more sinister than a beekeeping accident.
As the town buzzes with theories, Lucy discovers June had been investigating environmental corruption related to a luxury development project that threatened her beloved wildflower meadows. The night before her death, June had arranged to meet Lucy with "something important" to share -- a meeting that never happened.
Now Lucy must navigate a hive of suspects: Fern Delaney, June's rival beekeeper with a garden full of deadly monkshood plants; Virgil Tate, a gruff honey producer who accused June of sabotage; Mayor Levi Parson, who desperately wants June's land for his pet development project; and the smooth-talking developer Rufus Dunbar, whose plans for "Whispering Pines Resort" seem to be built on shaky ethical ground.
With help from her café-owner friend Hazel and the reluctant cooperation of handsome Deputy Tom Wentworth, Lucy follows a trail of clues as complex as a honeycomb. But as she gets closer to the truth, someone leaves a threatening note at the library, warning her to "drop this, or you'll get stung."
In a town where everyone has secrets, Lucy must use her librarian's eye for detail to uncover the truth -- before she becomes the killer's next victim.
