If you could have everything you ever wanted, would it be worth your freedom? This is the question that Agent 13 will have to answer for the world.
The year is 2081, and following the earlier worldwide implementation of mandatory euthanasia, extensive social, economic, and environmental benefits have resulted. Humans are living harmonious lives of plenty in a way previously unimagined. The 'Great Collective' are usually more than happy to take their early departure from life at the age of 50, and this is something that has become highly celebrated. It is a world in which people save, plan for, and even look forward to their 'Dying Parties'.
However, this new abundance has come at a price. Greater and greater losses of personal freedom were accepted under the guise of security, following the 2020 coronavirus pandemic. Social control and observation now prevail, and the vast majority of the population have submitted to this. Children are brought up to revere the International Observation and Certification Organisation (OCO) and the Honoured Masters, the federation of spiritual gurus who lead it. People are taught to stay quiet and to be grateful, for the sake of all, and in the name of the Collective.
However, not everyone is included in the Collective... The vaccinations, which were surreptitiously designed to make people more placid, have resulted in an unexpected side effect, compromising the original plan. Since 2028, there has been a steady increase of children born with surprising psychic abilities. 'Sensitives' are feared and considered a threat to security due to their rebellious tendencies. Once identified, Sensitives are detained and subjected to research and experimentation.
Emily Masterson, age 31, is Agent 13, a Military Intelligence Officer living in the UK, in Bedfordshire. Adventurous, positive, and determined, but also an often lonely workaholic, Emily has extraordinary hidden talents which have enabled her to progress to an exceptional level above her peers. Emily is a Sensitive in hiding, with a rare ability to 'Shield' her gifts.
With the assistance of her trusted comrade Isabel, Emily is determined to solve the puzzle which begins in her dreams, on a mysterious island riddled with suspicious activity. What she will uncover will have implications for the whole world order. And it will bring her to her life's purpose, as she fights against the authorities surrounded by enemies and danger.
If she is going to succeed, she will have to defeat the sadistic and fanatical Mr Lowe, a lifelong OCO operative, right-hand advisor to the Honoured Grand Master Thackery, and so far one of the most powerful Sensitives of them all...
But first she will need to get stronger and learn how to control and use her gifts to their fullest potential. Fortunately for Emily, the stern and cunning Commander Graves will discover her secret. And under his instruction she will be posted to Military Sensitive Training, where she will meet an exceptional team of women with even more impressive abilities than her own. Emily's life is about to change rapidly, whether she likes it or not...
