Description
I was dressed in white and marched onto a storm-slick pier like a peace offering.
Then the sea split open.
Kaelos rose from the black water -- abyss-born, beautiful, and hungry -- and the crown's "auction" became a sentence. A tide-chain snapped around my wrist. A rune-collar burned my throat. And I was dragged beneath the waves... expecting to die.
I didn't.
I woke in an underwater palace lit by living stars, trapped in a kingdom of pressure and whispers. The drowned won't stop screaming inside Kaelos's head, driving him toward violence -- until I do the one reckless thing that still feels like mine.
I sing.
My shaky hum turns his rage to stillness. The siren-voices quiet. And the monster who claimed me stops looking like my executioner...
... and starts looking like my obsession.
Now he doesn't want my obedience.
He wants my breath. My body. My yes.
And if the crown comes to take me back, they'll learn the truth:
The sea doesn't return what it claims --
and neither does its king.
